Elementary School Tutoring

We serve children from pre-K through 5th grade throughout the Metro Atlanta area. Our tutors include certified elementary school teachers and retired educators. All tutoring is in your home so that your child can learn at their own kitchen table.

Kids sometimes fall behind in subjects like math and reading because they need that one-on-one attention from someone they trust. They need to hear different ways of grasping concepts that seem so simple to us as adults. And they thrive when they have a tutor who really cares about how they are doing. Grade school students are sometimes in classrooms with up to 30 other kids. There simply isn’t time for teachers to make sure each child understands the subject matter.

The main subjects our grade school tutors teach include:

  • Math: Subtraction and addition, multiplication tables, measurements, fractions, decimals.
  • Reading: Phonics, vocabulary and comprehension.
  • Writing: Vocabulary, grammar, spelling and handwriting.

Kids sometimes struggle to get their homework done, follow instructions, and keep their papers tidy. A tutor can help them to develop these habits in as little as one session a week.

Because most of our K-5 tutors are teachers themselves, they know how to work with your child’s curriculum and instruction.

Georgia Milestones Tutoring

With the Georgia Milestones assessments coming up this spring, your child’s scores could determine whether they are held back or not. That’s why In-Home Tutors is providing Georgia Milestones tutoring to students throughout Metro Atlanta. These tutors are specially trained in preparing students for the Georgia Milestones exam.

Sessions cover language arts, math, science, and social studies. Tutors will walk students through practice tests to find out where they need extra support. Elementary School Teachers

We typically assign an experienced elementary school teacher to our K-5 students. These teachers have the education, experience, and passion to help kids thrive at school.

Special Ed Certified

Many of our teachers have training in special education and know how to work with children who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities and attention deficit.

Your Curriculum

In-Home Tutors does not impose a curriculum or methodology on you. We base our tutoring on your child’s school curriculum and text books and work with you and your child’s teacher or counselor to identify where your child needs help. Our tutors do not charge for a reasonable amount of communication with teachers.

Your Location

“In-Home” is in our name and all our tutors agree to tutor in the client’s home. If you’d prefer to meet at a library or coffee shop or other public location, that’s fine too. We will also send our tutor to your child’s school or daycare, as long as we receive official permission to meet there. In short, we always seek to do what’s most convenient for the client, not what’s easiest for the tutor.

Your Schedule

We do our best to fit in with your schedule. Whether you need a tutor in the morning, afternoon, late into the evening or on the weekend, we can usually find a good tutor to match your availability. As you’d imagine our best tutors see their schedules fill up fast, so it is always in your interest to be flexible. But you’ll be impressed to see how hard we try to accommodate your requests.
