A NEW WAY TO TUTOR STUDENTS WITH ADHD

A Homework Coach can Help the Disorganized Student

In-Home Homework Coaches

Next to our math tutors, our “homework coaches” are our most popular offering. Over the past 20 years we heard so many parents say things like:

“My child does not need a math or English tutor. They need someone to help them get organized, plan their assignments and get them completed.”

So we developed a special type of tutor we call “homework coach.” We’ve developed training materials that help a traditional tutor understand why a student with ADHD may need a different approach, and set up a separate web site.

Homework coaches work with students two or more days after school. They focus on study skills and building executive functioning. They keep them on-track with their school subjects. They hold them accountable.

Homework coaches help students to:

  • Complete assignments on time — and turn them in
  • Manage their time efficiently
  • Break down bigger projects into manageable steps
  • Communicate better with teachers and parents.

Atlanta Tutoring for Students with ADHD

Children with ADHD or executive functioning challenges are generally bright kids who just can’t seem to “get it together.” They complete their work, then forget to turn it in. They don’t study for a test because they procrastinate. Then they get overwhelmed and demotivated. This can be hard for parents and teachers who see a good, smart kid falling behind.

Our coaches can turn things around and take the stress of fighting over homework out of your household. Although the focus is always on completing homework and staying on top of schoolwork, the homework coach is always thinking about how to build the student’s study skills and self-reliance.

” In-Home Tutors matched our teenage son with two skilled, engaging–and caring–tutors during his formative middle school and high school years. The result: he stayed on track thanks to a perfect blend of study skill-building, coaching and loving encouragement. He’s now on his way to college having earned an academic and talent scholarship.” —  John H, Roswell

Your Curriculum

In-Home Tutors does not impose a curriculum or methodology on you. We base our tutoring on your child’s school curriculum and text books and work with you and your child’s teacher or counselor to identify where your child needs help. Our tutors do not charge for a reasonable amount of communication with teachers.

Your Location

“In-Home” is in our name and all our tutors agree to tutor in the client’s home. If you’d prefer to meet at a library or coffee shop or other public location, that’s fine too. We will also send our tutor to your child’s school or daycare, as long as we receive official permission to meet there. In short, we always seek to do what’s most convenient for the client, not what’s easiest for the tutor.

Your Schedule

We’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule, whether you need tutoring in the morning, afternoon, late into the evening, or on the weekend. Although we recommend that you establish a regular weekly schedule, we can usually work around shifting sports dates or work commitments. Coordinate changes directly with your tutor.
